Rapper MC Tod Fod, Who Featured In ‘Gully Boy’, Passes Away Aged 24

Mumbai: Rapper Dharmesh Parmar aka MC Tod Fod, who featured in Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Gully Boy’, has passed away aged 24. He was associated with the multilingual group Swadesi. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

In 2019, Tod Fod and Swadesi, along with other Indian hip-hop artists, were called on to be a part of Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. Tod Fod wrote a verse for ‘India 91’, which was part of the soundtrack. His raps in Gujarati are also well-known.

Gully Boy actors Ranveer Singh and Siddhant Chaturvedi expressed their condolences at Tod Fod’s passing, on social media. They both shared pictures of the hip-hop star on their Instagram stories and Siddhant also shared the screenshot of a conversation he had with Tod Phod.

Siddhant told the rap artist that he loved the track ‘India 91’ and the latter complemented the actor’s energy.

Gully Boy director Zoya Akhtar shared a picture of Tod Phod with the caption, “You have gone way too soon. I can only be grateful our paths crossed. Rest in peace Bantai.”

As part of Swadesi, which was formed in 2013, Todd Fodd performed with MC Mawli, producer Nar and Rakshasas, and even recent members included rappers 100RBH and Maharaya. Todd Fodd’s verses on songs such as ‘The Warley Revolt’ became extremely popular. He emerged as a voice who fought for the environment and human rights.

Artists address social evils in Swadeshi’s 2020 album, ‘Chetawani’. His song ‘Kranti Havi’ featuring the Delhi Sultanate was acrimonious. Todd Fod was also a part of several singles including ‘Plandemic’. His most recent single, ‘Truth and Bass’, was released on March 8.
