RRR Box Office Day One: Rajamouli Film Has All-Time Best Opening By Indian Movie, Mints ₹257 Crore Worldwide

Mumbai: As per trade reports, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR has started on a very strong note, earning ₹257 crores globally on the day of its release. This makes it the best opening day performance by any Indian film to date. Notably, the film has beat Rajamouli’s previous release Baahubali: The Conclusion, which earned Rs 224 crore on its opening day.

Trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan tweeted about the film’s earnings on Saturday morning, saying that the film had earned ₹257.15 crores on the first day. This includes ₹120 crore earnings from Andhra and Telangana alone as well as ₹78 crores overseas.

“#RRRMovie creates history at the WW Box Office,” he tweeted, followed by the territory-wise breakdown of the film’s earnings. He concluded his tweet with, “First ever Indian movie to achieve this humongous figure on an opening day.”

According to a report in BoxOfficeIndia.com, the Hindi dubbed version of the film alone contributed ₹19 crore from the northern regions, which is much higher than other recent south releases. The Hindi versions of both Pushpa: The Rise and Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam earned around ₹3–4 crore in their initial days.

The film has done well outside India as well. According to trade analysts, in the US, the film has crossed the $5 million (approx ₹38 crore) barrier on its first day and is planning to register $15 million (about ₹114 crore) in the opening weekend. Additionally, it has replaced The Batman as the highest-grossing film in the country, earning Rs 4 crore there on Friday.
