Salman Khan Summoned By Mumbai Court For Allegedly Assaulting Journalist

The court has summoned Salman Khan for offences under IPC sections 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation)

Mumbai: A magistrate court in Mumbai has issued summons to actor Salman Khan and one of his bodyguards in connection with a case filed by journalist Ashok Pandey for allegedly assaulting him in 2019.

The court has summoned Salman Khan for offences under IPC sections 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation), ANI reported.

Ashok Pandey had moved to the Andheri Metropolitan Court in June 2019, seeking registration of an FIR against Khan and his bodyguards after they tried to make the actor ride a bicycle.

In September that year, the court ordered the police to register an FIR against the actor and his two bodyguards.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place in the early hours of April 24 when Salman Khan was riding a bicycle along with two bodyguards.

Pandey said that he and his cameraman were inside a car and immediately Salman Khan started recording a video with the consent of the actor’s bodyguards.

The complaint states that the actor got angry and his bodyguards allegedly got into the car and started beating Pandey.

Pandey alleged that Salman Khan also assaulted her and snatched her mobile phone. The complaint states that the trio threatened her with dire consequences.

“We took out our mobile phones and started shooting. Suddenly, Salman turned around and gestured to his bodyguards. After that bodyguards riding motorcycles approached us. My cameraman was pushed by one of the guards and he even pushed our car with force. We ended up having an argument with them. Salman turned his cycle and came to us. We told him we were from the press. Salman said ‘It doesn’t matter,” Pandey alleged.

While the journalists were dialling 100, Salman Khan’s bodyguards returned his phone.

Pandey said he approached the court as the police, while disposing of his complaint, said no offence was made out.
