Shahid’s ‘Jersey’ Postponed, Film Avoids Clash With ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’

Earlier, 'Jersey' got delayed in December last year due to a surge in COVID-19 cases

Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer ‘Jersey’ release has been postponed once again. All set to release on April 14, Jersey will now hit the theatres on April 22.

The date has been postponed due to a clash with KGF: Chapter 2 and Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast.

Sharing the update, film producer Aman Gill said, “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into ‘Jersey’ and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on 22nd April.”

Helmed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, ‘Jersey’, a remake of the National Award-winning Telugu film of the same name will see Shahid play Arjun, a failed cricketer who decides to fulfil his dream of representing Team India for his son.

Earlier in an interview with CNN News 18, Shahid Kapoor was asked about his film’s box office clash with KGF Chapter 2 and Beast. To which, he said, “The fact that we’re releasing means that we feel it’s a good time to release. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have. The fact that they are releasing, feels like a good time for them. So, I guess, if you put the two things together, there is enough space for different movies.”

The actor also extended good wishes to Yash ahead of his KGF Chapter 2’s release. “KGF 2 is a sequel to a film that people have really loved. So wishing Rocky Bhai all the best. It’s a different genre, a big action, edgy kind of film and ours is an emotional sports film with family and a message,” the actor mentioned.
