Vivek Agnihotri, Kashmir Files Director, Gets ‘Y’ Category Security Cover

Mumbai: The Kashmir Files film director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has been granted Y-category security, India Today reported. The CRPF security will accompany the director across India.

It has been reported that the security cover was provided based on the perception of threat to the director after his film’s release.

Under Y- category security, Agnihotri will be provided with a security cover of eight officers, likely to be two commandos and police personnel.

The Kashmir Files outlines the brutality endured by Kashmiri Pandits and the ensuing mass exodus of the community from the Valley in the 1990s.

It has received a massive push from the Centre and states, with many extending tax breaks to it. The film also got Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nod, who in a speech called out an “entire ecosystem” which is trying to sabotage and discredit a film that is telling the “truth”.

The movie, which has crossed ₹100 crores at the box office, stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles and has received massive support across the country.
