Why Is Koo App Trending These Days?

What’s the name of the place wherein most of the people visit to speak out something good or harsh about brands, politics, or any organization? It’s Twitter. That was too easy. Now, Meet Koo App – The Desi Version of Twitter. The made in India App “Koo” which is getting all the spotlights on it from the last couple of days.

But why is everybody talking about this “Koo” app? First of all, Koo is an Indian micro-blogging app developed by Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka in March 2020. In August 2020, It has won the “Aatmanirbhar App Challenge” organized by the Government of India. Koo, which was introduced in March 2020, getting a tremendous amount of support from Celebrities, Sportsmen & Politicians in recent times.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, MyGov, Digital India, India Post, NIC, NIELIT, SAMEER, Common Service Centre, UMANG & several other departments have verified their name in this platform. The reason behind the KOO app receiving so much love & support in the present times is it acts as an alternative app for Twitter. Indian users can share their opinions, use hashtags, follow celebrities/ activists/ leaders, like or comment on other users’ posts, view and write posts in multiple languages.

One of the developers, in a recent interview, said this is a strategic response as an action against Twitter which was neglecting the order of blocking around 257 Tweets & some profile who were tweeting about the farmer genocide. The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology ordered Twitter in the last month, to block 257 Twitter accounts & some hashtags for spreading misinformation that was causing chaos & creating a distasteful environment.

But Twitter chose to remain silent & removed the temporarily blocked profile which they had done before all this. That’s why many officials & ministries came into the support of KOO app which shares similar features as Twitter does. Top-most Government Offices & Public figures have joined this platform and have taken this app to another level making it most-talked app in the present times.
