Restrictions Under Section 144 Extended In Bengaluru Till June 21

Mumbai: Restrictions under Section 144, which were initially imposed in Bengaluru in mid-April, have been extended in the city till June 21 to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The order was issued by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate.

Bus stands, railway stations and airports are exempted from this order. Last week, the state government issued orders to extend the weekend lockdown in the state from 7 pm on 18 June to 5 am on 21 June.

However, to revive the stalled businesses, the state government allowed the resumption of activities in a graded manner between 6 am and 6 am on June 14.

The statewide lockdown was imposed across Karnataka on April 27 in light of the spike in COVID-19 cases during the second wave of the pandemic. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had imposed a lockdown in 20 districts, including the state capital Bengaluru.

With the new norms in place, essential shops have been permitted to operate till 2 pm. Gardens and other public facilities have also been allowed to remain open between 5 am to 10 am. Street vendors have been asked to close at 2 pm, while taxis and autos have been allowed to operate with maximum seating capacity.
