Andhra Pradesh Imposes Night Curfew From 11 pm To 5 am Amid Rising COVID Cases

Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday announced a night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am to be imposed in the state, in view of rising COVID-19 cases, Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.

The Andhra Pradesh government has also limited the audience to 50 per cent in cinemas.

The order states that a maximum of 100 people will be allowed for indoor public gatherings and 200 people for outdoor gatherings. Anyone caught without a mask in a public place will be fined Rs 100.

The Health Department, in its 9 am bulletin on January 9, said that Andhra Pradesh has reported 1,257 new COVID cases taking the tally to 20,81,859. Two more people have succumbed to the coronavirus, the figures said, taking the death toll to 14,505.

The state reported 140 recoveries, taking the total recoveries to 20,62,580.

According to the health bulletin, the number of active cases rose to 4,774.

Of the total fresh coronavirus infections, Chittoor district reported the maximum number of fresh cases at 254, Visakhapatnam 196, Anantapuramu 138, Krishna 117, Guntur 104 and SPS Nellore 103. East Godavari recorded 93 COVID infections, Vizianagaram 83 and Srikakulam 55.

Meanwhile, several states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and several others have imposed restrictions to contain the COVID outbreak fueled by the Omicron version.
