BJP Constructing Temple, Kejriwal Govt Opening Liquor Shop Near It: Smriti Irani

Mumbai: Commenting on the Delhi government’s liquor policies, Union Minister Smriti Irani said that while the BJP is constructing a temple, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government is opening a ‘theka’ (liquor shop) near it.

“You will find a liquor shop in Tilak Nagar between the two gurdwaras. There is a boundary of religion which has been broken by the Kejriwal government… and then it promises a ‘drug-free’ Punjab,” he said.

Irani further alleged that by opening ‘thekas’, the Kejriwal government has proved that it can go to any extent for ‘profits’.

“Arvind Kejriwal opened liquor shops and proved that he can go to any extent for profit. I will ask all the brothers here, suppose a sister passing by a liquor store hoping for respect and safety, every day; Kejriwal is responsible for her struggle,” Irani said.

She also attacked the Kejriwal government for promising to adopt the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme but ‘not implementing it on the ground’. Irani said the Narendra Modi government was building toilets for the poor and the AAP government in the national capital was giving “training on liquor policies”.

She said, “The Narendra Modi government is creating a ministry to produce skilled youth. And the Kejriwal government is making liquor policies.

Other BJP leaders also attended the event, with Irani saying that the BJP government is giving free vaccines in Delhi, but the Kejriwal government is handing over weapons of destruction.
