Ex-Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody
Mumbai: A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Monday sent former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to 14-day judicial custody.
The senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on November 1 under various sections of the PMLA.
A holiday court on November 6 sent Deshmukh (71) to 14-day judicial custody after rejecting the ED’s plea for extension of remand.
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh had accused him of extortion and money laundering.
Singh had alleged that Deshmukh was involved in several wrongdoings, including asking suspended police officer Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore from bars and restaurants in Mumbai.
