Gadar 2 Earns ₹40 Cr On Day 1, Becomes 2nd Highest Opener Of 2023
Mumbai: Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer ‘Gadar 2’ collected ₹40 crore on its opening day in India. With this, the film became the second highest opener of the year after Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan, which collected ₹57 crore on Day 1.
With all its massive advance booking and the spot-trend, the film was expected to hold the first day anywhere around Rs 35 crore nett, but the final collection is even bigger.
In his 32-year career, Sunny Deol’s highest opening for a picture has come from this one. The second-largest opening for a Bollywood film this year was likewise achieved by Gadar 2. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which debuted to a gross of Rs 57 crore, has maintained its top spot.
Gadar 2 is also the seventh-highest Bollywood opening of all time, surpassing films like Sultan, Dhoom 3, and Brahmastra – Part One: Shiva and Adipurush (Hindi). Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, starring Salman Khan, had an opening day nett revenue of Rs. 40.35 crore in 2015.
