Govt To Form Committee On MSP After Assembly Elections: Narendra Singh Tomar

Mumbai: Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government is committed to forming a panel on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The Election Commission has said it can be done after the Assembly polls, he added.

The Minister made this announcement while answering a question during Question Hour. Tomar said the government had written to the Election Commission (EC) regarding the announcement of the committee on MSP in view of the assembly elections in five states.

According to the minister, the Election Commission has advised that the committee on MSP should be announced after the elections are over in five states. “The entire country knows that the Prime Minister has announced the formation of a committee to make crop diversification, natural farming and MSP effective and transparent. The government is committed to the announcement made by the PM. The matter is under consideration of the Ministry and the announcement of the Committee will be done after Assembly polls,” Tomar said.
