‘I&B Ministry Looking Into Complaint Against Big Boss Reality Show’

Mumbai: In a huge blow for Salman Khan’s reality show, the Ministry of Information is looking into the complaint filed by a BJP lawmaker demanding “Big Boss” reality show to be taken off the air, ANI reported.

BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar of Loni in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh wrote a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar in this regard.

He has requested the minister to immediately stopping the telecast of the show, alleging that it was spreading pornography and hurting the social morality of the country.

“The show is against the country’s cultural ethos and highly objectionable intimate scenes were a part of it. Couples from different communities were being made to share their bed with each other which is unacceptable,” read the letter.

He demanded a ban on reality shows with immediate effect and asked for a dedicated censor authority to keep a check on the content being aired on television.

Bigg Boss is an Indian reality television game show franchise produced by EndemolShine India through Viacom 18 and Colors, broadcast in India, subsequently syndicated internationally and made available online as VOD through OTT platforms

In the show, contestants called “housemates” live together in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. Housemates are voted out (usually on a weekly basis) until only one remains and wins the cash prize. During their stay in the house, contestants are continuously monitored by live television cameras as well as personal audio microphones.
