IGL Hikes Price Of CNG And PNG By ₹1 Per Unit In Delhi-NCR

Mumbai: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has hiked the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG), in Delhi-NCR by ₹1/unit. The new price will come into effect from today, March 24. This means more expensive cooking fuel for the nearly 1.68 million domestic households that use IGL’s PNG across the country.

CNG now costs ₹59.01/kg in Delhi, ₹61.58/kg in Noida and ₹67.37/kg in Gurugram.

The increase in PNG prices came a day after fuel retailers increased the price of LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder and started increasing the rates of petrol and diesel in view of the rise in global gas and oil prices respectively.

According to messages sent to consumers, after the hike, the price of PNG will be Rs 36.61 per unit (scm or standard cubic meter) in Delhi and Rs 35.86 per unit in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida.

IGL had on March 8 increased the prices of CNG by 50 paise per kg but did not change the prices of PNG. CNG now costs Rs 57.51 per kg in Delhi and Rs 59.58 per kg in Ghaziabad and Noida.

This comes at a time when petrol and diesel prices have remained stable after two consecutive days of the hike. Petrol and diesel prices were again increased by 75 to 83 paise on Wednesday amid the Russo-Ukraine war.

Currently, the cost of petrol in Delhi is Rs 97.01 a litre while the cost of diesel is Rs 88.27 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 111.67 per litre and diesel can be bought at Rs 95.85 a litre.
