Mumbai: Former Congress MP Dr Ajay Kumar on Friday took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Uttar Pradesh for trying to change the name of Aligarh to Harigarh.
Further taking a dig at the government, he suggested that the next name should be changed from ‘Unemployment’ to ‘Employment’ and this would solve the problems of the country.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Kumar said, “Aligarh” name changed to “HariGarh”. Next name change will be “Unemployment” to “Employment” ” and Country’s Problem solved!!”

The Congress leader’s remarks came days after the district panchayat of Aligarh passed a resolution to rename the city as Harigarh.
The resolution was passed on Monday and the members claimed that it was a long pending demand. In the first meeting of the Panchayat, the resolution was passed without any opposition in the presence of 50 out of 72 members.
Vijay Singh, zila panchayat chairman for Aligarh, said, “It was a long pending demand to rename Aligarh as Harigarh. The zila panchayat approved the proposal unopposed. It would now be forwarded to the state government for approval.”
