Over 10 Million Kids Received First Dose Of COVID19 Vaccine

Mumbai: More than 10 million children aged 15 to 18 have now been vaccinated with a single dose of Covaxin. The crucial milestone reached in less than three days – India on Monday expanded its COVID-19 vaccination campaign to include children earlier this week.

“Superb enthusiasm among young India for vaccination. Over 1 crore youngsters between 15-18 age group have received 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine…that too on the 3rd day of vaccination drive for children. I appeal to all eligible young friends to get vaccinated at the earliest,” Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

On the second day of the new phase of COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents aged 15-18 years that began on January 3, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh topped the charts with over 10 lakh vaccinations.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 147.62 crore (1,47,62,53,454) on Tuesday. More than 87 lakh (87,66,164) doses of vaccine have been given till 7 pm on Tuesday. Final figures were expected to rise.
