A day earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it has evacuated all Indian students from Sumy in Ukraine, which has faced massive bombing by Russian forces.

With this, around 18,000 Indians have been brought back by special flights, apart from some nationals of other countries, since the evacuation operation began late last month.

Modi has held several rounds of high-level talks with senior ministers and officials regarding the evacuation of Indian nationals.

He has also spoken to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, while reiterating his plea for an end to the conflict and violence and a return to talks.

The war entered day 14 on Wednesday having battered cities in Ukraine, leaving several dead and many others injured, besides prompting Europe’s worst refugee crisis since World War II
