Petrol, Diesel Prices Hit Fresh Record Highs As Rates Hiked After 2-Day Pause

Mumbai: Petrol and diesel prices hit fresh record highs across most parts of India on Thursday after the rates were hiked following a two-day pause.

The price of petrol in the national capital today is Rs 104.79 per litre, which is 35 paise more than yesterday. Diesel is being sold at Rs 93.52 per litre in the capital. Petrol and diesel prices have increased 10 times in October so far.

Petrol price in Mumbai is still the highest among metro cities at Rs 110.75 per litre. The price of diesel in the country’s financial capital is Rs 101.40 per litre. The difference in prices between Delhi and Mumbai is due to the different local VAT charges in different cities.

Petrol and diesel prices are decided on the basis of freight charges, local taxes and VAT. Petrol has crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Ladakh and some cities of Bihar and Punjab.
