PM Modi Unveils 6.5-Metre-Tall Bronze National Emblem On Top Of New Parliament Building

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi on Monday unveiled the National Emblem cast on the roof of the New Parliament Building, the government said. The bronze cast weighs around 9,500 kg and stands 6.5 metres tall, according to officials.

It has been placed at the top of the Central Foyer of the New Parliament Building. A supporting structure of steel weighing around 6500 Kg has been constructed to support the Emblem.

Officials said the concept and process of carrying the national emblem on the roof of the new Parliament House have gone through eight different stages of preparation ranging from clay modelling/computer graphic to bronze casting and polishing.

After unveiling the structure, PM Modi also interacted with the workers engaged in the construction of the new Parliament.

The new Parliament, which is being built next to the heritage Parliament House, is triangular in shape, with the building crowning it.

The project, which started in January 2021 at an estimated cost of Rs 971 crore, is set to be completed in time for the winter session of Parliament.

The new building is expected to accommodate up to 888 members in the Lok Sabha chamber, 384 in Rajya Sabha and up to 1,272 seats for a joint session, keeping in view a possible expansion of Parliament after the next delimitation.
