Saira Battling Depression After Dilip Kumar’s Death, Diagnosed With Acute Coronary Syndrome

Mumbai: Veteran actress Saira Banu, who is currently admitted to ICU of Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital, has been diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome, a doctor said.

The late Dilip Kumar’s wife has reportedly been diagnosed with depression and coronary syndrome, following which doctors at Hinduja Hospital have advised angiography.

However, according to the latest PTI report, Saira has refused to undergo angiography. The report said that doctors advised an angiogram procedure to understand the condition of Saira Banu’s heart.

A doctor at Hinduja Hospital told Press Trust of India that yesterday he underwent a heart test and was diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome. “Once she gives her consent, the doctor can do angiography,” he said.

77-year-old Saira Banu, widow of late Yusuf Khan alias Dilip Kumar, was admitted to the ICU of the hospital after she complained of breathlessness, high blood pressure and high sugar. He was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on 1 September.

According to the doctor treating Hinduja, Saira Banu is also suffering from depression after the death of her husband Dilip Kumar. She doesn’t sleep much. She wants to go home. Saira Banu may be shifted to a room soon after being discharged from the ICU.

Saira Banu’s health raised concerns on social media and many people prayed and wished her a speedy recovery and speedy discharge from the hospital.

Beginning her acting career as a teenager with the 1961 film “Jungle”, she became one of the top heroines in the 1960s–1970s, working with the leading actors of the day and in the biggest films acted out.

In the past few years, she earned legions of admirers for the manner in which she stood by and cared for her husband Dilip Kumar who was ailing for several years before he passed away on July 7 aged 98.
