Salman Khan Fails To Appear At Jodhpur Court Over BlackBuck Poaching Case

Mumbai: On Friday Bollywood actor Salman Khan failed to appear before a Jodhpur court in connection with the 1998 BlackBuck poaching case, citing his busy schedule.

Khan’s lawyer informed the District and Sessions Court that the actor was busy shooting for an upcoming film.

Salman Khan was mentioned in court a few days before the trial in the case of intimidation.

The threat, which drew a picture of Salman Khan with a red cross, was posted on Facebook from an account named Gary Shooter.

The court posted the case for hearing on 19 December.

Khan had allegedly received a life threat on social media following his Jodhpur hearing following which Rajasthan Police on Tuesday said that they are investigating the case.

Khan was sentenced to five years in prison on April 5 last year after being found guilty of killing two blackbucks in Jodhpur during the shooting of his film Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998. However, after spending two nights in the Jodhpur jail, the court granted him bail.

Apart from his co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari, and Tabu – another accused Dushyant Singh was acquitted for lack of evidence.

In May this year, the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court issued fresh notices to the actors following the Rajasthan government’s appeal against their acquittal by the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate.

A notice was also issued to Dushyant Singh who was illegal with the actors when the poaching took place.

On March 11, the High Court issued a notice on the appeal of the state government challenging the five respondents for their acquittal.
