Seems COVID-19 3rd Wave Peak Has Gone Past In Delhi: Satyendar Jain

Mumbai: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Wednesday that the peak of the third wave of COVID-19 in the national capital has passed after a record single-day spike of 28,000 cases.

Last week, the positivity rate in Delhi had gone up to 30 per cent. Delhi had recorded 28,867 Covid-19 cases last Thursday, the sharpest one-day spike since the start of the pandemic.

“It seems that the peak of the third Covid wave in Delhi has gone after a record increase of 28,000 cases and 30 per cent positivity rate,” PTI quoted Jain as saying.

The minister said that there is a need to keep an eye on the trend of Kovid-19 cases in Delhi. “The Covid-19 wave may have peaked in Delhi, but still can’t say we are out of the danger zone, we need to see the trend,” Jain said.

He further said that the proactive measures have led to a decline in the cases. “For a decision on easing restrictions, we have to first monitor the situation,” the minister said.

Despite the spike recorded in the national capital last week, the minister had said that daily hospital admissions have not increased for one week.

Jain reiterated that the ongoing wave of the pandemic has peaked and is on the decline in Delhi. “We hope that its descent is as sharp as its rise. Let us wait for a few more days,” he said.
