Surviving The New-World Order- Office Transformation Mantras From Meenu Agrawal

“When it comes to designing- there is no rule that must hold you back! - That’s the only rule you should know.” Meenu Agarwal, owner of MADS Creation shares her tips to creating the perfect, custom-office space

The world order as well as the work order, have made a huge shift today, after one annual circle of the Covid 19 Pandemic that continues to make its way to the second year. More and more organizations today, have shifted their entire work to digital modes and the work from home setup, people have been adapting to this new world order with best efforts. Even though this seems like a suitable alternative, the balance between work and home increasingly becomes a struggle to keep up with. At the face of this, mindfulness is one quality that contemporary situations call for.

Your ability to not get overwhelmed by what’s happening around you and extending your presence and awareness to your work table is what can significantly aid in improving your productivity in remote working and can help you get most done without having to stress over with multiple thoughts. And indeed, this change starts with the workspace or the office space you create for everyday work. Meenu Agarwal explains how small steps to build a good work environment can go a long way for us to stay productive and well during these challenging times and can help us to keep emotional and mental wellness at check-

According to research, a well-set up office space can boost one’s mood and productivity and is great to unleash creativity, concentrate better and cultivate mindfulness at work. As guilty we all of us are for choosing our beds and couches to work, it is a proven fact that unfriendly working environments- especially something like the bed does the opposite of making one feel inspired and energetic. A perfect corner to work is not just crucial to office employees but is also of due benefit for anyone choosing to sit back and study, read, write, craft or perform any task that requires you to concentrate and get down to work- undistracted. Interior Designer Meenu Agarwal’s idea of perfect office space is described in adjectives- minimalistic, spacious, smart and inspiring. With high notes on functionality, she however reveals that elements of fun and fancy can add some drama and depth to these designs without coming in way of their serviceability.

The first step to renovating begins with choosing the right furniture that occupies your workspace. As opposed to picking the most popular designs that sell, the different furniture you pick for your office will need to be specialized for you and your home design.  The most comfortable possible is one determination that helps you pick the right furniture without having to regret your purchases later. Meenu Agarwal’s best advice is to “measure your office space before you start buying stuff”. Having a colour palette in mind is also a handy prerequisite to help you choose the right accessories. Pick a chair that best suits your height, weight and use. Keep in mind how you use that furniture every day is a great hint to the kind of purchases you should make. For something like the chair, you sit on for hours every day- it has to be comfortable and adjustable.

Meenu Agarwal suggests having some greenery around the corner to be a fresh addition to the overall design. As dearly we all miss going out and reconnecting to the natural world because of the isolation, a lovely plant can be just a little effort to keep in touch with mother nature. A pot of your chosen plant can help you keep calm and is great for clean air too. There is absolutely no rule to picking the plant for your space- all you got to pay attention to is to choose one with less maintenance hassle. With plants and some sunshine by your desk, the place becomes a lot more alive and warmer. Meenu Agarwal MADS Creations suggests picking natural lights as much as possible during the daytime. A fancy chandelier can top-up for the nights- adding an element of fancy to make an interesting detail. Good lighting can bring together everything else you put in your space.

Other elements that add depth to your space can be wall hangings and a custom rug. Meenu Agarwal says “The world market is trending with stylish affordable textiles like multi-shaded rugs that are beautifully adorned with intricate details. They are sure to add splendid charms to white and soft pastel-toned rooms particularly.” Fancy rugs add texture to otherwise simple and clean designs and thus make a perfect amalgamate of modern and lux. Filling your office space with vivid art and encouraging affirmations can go far in energizing your space and make you feel inspired to work. To top that, they look fashionable when put together well, with the overall theme. Get recommendations of art pairing and create a gallery wall facing your desk- it’s a lot more animation added to an otherwise plain, neutral wall.

Optimization and organization are the best additions to make to your plan. Meenu Agarwal notes, “It is the wisest to not waste an ounce of space without putting it to use. Vertical storage is a smart idea to make the place look less cluttered and filled. Try putting cabinets up to the ceiling with varying types of storage and keep things organized to the best extends.”

To add to her suggestions, the MADS Creation owner says that it’s not necessarily true that making your mind to renovate your workspace will burn down holes in your pocket. She suggests making timeless designs by bending rules- “Shop from antique stores, flea markets, and local artists as much as you buy vintage and luxury items.  You can pair your rustic top desk with a modern colour-popping chair to create drama.” She adds, “When it comes to design- there is no rule that must hold you back! – That’s the only rule you should know.”
