UP Govt Approves Plan To Widen 158 Roads In Ayodhya; ₹250 Cr Budget Allocated

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath approved a plan to widen and repair 158 roads in Ayodhya in a move to promote religious tourism in the city.

Roads will be widened in all the five assembly constituencies of Ayodhya with a fund of 250 crores. Each assembly constituency will get ₹50 crores for the project.

Ayodhya assembly constituency has the maximum number of 53 roads selected, followed by Gosainganj 42, Milkipur 23, Bikapur 21 and Rudauli assembly constituency 19.

The Public Works Department (PWD) will execute the project.

According to Ayodhya Mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay, the roads have been identified and a proposal has been sent to the state government.

The government may release the budget next month and work is likely to start after the monsoon.

The state government also wants to develop a network of roads in Ayodhya so that the movement of devotees can be easy.

The project has been conceptualized keeping in mind the devotees coming to Ayodhya from nearby areas. A large number of devotees also come to Ayodhya from adjoining districts including Basti, Sultanpur, Gonda, Bahraich, Ambedkar Nagar and Barabanki.

“On every festive occasion, the maximum rush of devotees to Ayodhya is from adjoining districts. We have to develop amenities for them and make commuting easy,” said Upadhyay.
