UP Makes RT-PCR Test Of All Passengers Coming To State Mandatory Amid Omicron

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh government issued guidelines for all districts regarding the new COVID-19 variant Omicron. RT-PCR test of all passengers coming to the state and genome sequencing of all infected patients is mandatory, as per the official statement.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to make proper arrangements in hospitals for dealing with variant B.1.1.529.

An official statement issued by the UP government has called for mandatory RT-PCR testing of all passengers arriving in the state. According to the guidelines, genomic sequencing of all the patients infected with the coronavirus is being done.

After the confirmation of cases of Omicron in other states of the country, the Uttar Pradesh administration has increased the vigil on the borders.

According to an official statement, the UP government has asked all district officials to emphasize further improving health facilities in rural and urban areas.

The statement further informed that the government is improving medical facilities to be prepared to deal with the new COVID variant challenge. 19,000 beds and 55,000 beds are being increased in the medical colleges of Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs).

The UP government is keeping a close watch on the availability of oxygen, beds, laboratories, the statement said.

The guidelines regarding Imicron were issued after CM Adityanath directed the special team of doctors and health experts to prepare an action plan to avoid the spread of the Omicron variant during the second wave of COVID-19. Were.

In regards to the spread of the new variant and its effects after vaccination, the special team of doctors from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) had discussed the precautions to be taken across Uttar Pradesh.

On November 26, 2021, WHO designated the variant B.1.1.529 a variant of concern, named Omicron, on the advice of WHO’s Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution (TAG-VE).
