2 Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists Killed In Encounter In J&K’s Srinagar

Mumbai: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on Monday, police said.

He said this was the third such encounter in the last three days and at least six terrorists have been killed so far. Giving further details, a police spokesman said that the encounter at Rangreth took place during a surprise inspection after receiving information about the possible movement of terrorists in the area.

“During checking at one such Naka manned by a small team of police, two terrorists fired indiscriminately on the police party. A brief encounter erupted as the forces retaliated and the two terrorists were neutralized on spot,” the spokesperson who did not wish to be named said.

The spokesman said that two AK rifles were recovered from the spot. Police said one terrorist has been identified as Adil Ahmed Wani of Darmadoor Shopian, while the other has been identified as a foreign terrorist.

He said that according to the information both were associated with Lashkar. Police said the deceased was involved in several terror cases and also played a key role in the recent killings in Srinagar city.

“In 2020, terrorist Aadil along with his associates fired at a police party of Police Post Warpora Sopore in which a police personnel Wajahat Asadullah and a civilian were killed. Besides, he was also involved in several grenade attacks on the establishment of forces. He was also involved in the grenade attack at the Sopore bus stand in which 19 civilians were injured and the grenade attack at Police Post Bus Stand, Sopore, in which two police personnel were injured,” the spokesperson said.

A Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist was killed in an encounter in the Bargam Pulwama district on Sunday. The terrorist has been identified as Sameer Ahmed Tantre of Bargam Awantipora.

According to officials, over 140 terrorists, both local and foreign, were killed in encounters in the Valley this year.
