230 Indians To Return From Israel On 1st Operation Ajay Flight: MEA

Mumbai: The Ministry of External Affairs announced that around 230 Indians will return from Israel on the first flight under Operation Ajay. A charter flight is set to reach Tel Aviv on Thursday evening. The flight is anticipated to arrive in India on Friday morning, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said. The Indian Air Force may also be involved in the evacuation

“A charter flight will reach Tel Aviv today later in the evening. It is expected to get 230 passengers onboard. We have all options, but the role of IAF can’t be ruled out,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told reporters in a weekly briefing.

According to Bagchi, the plane is probably going to land in India early on Friday.

The government launched “Operation Ajay” on Wednesday in an effort to make it easier for Indian nationals who want to return home from Israel, which has been at war with Hamas, a terrorist organisation based in Gaza, since October 7, when Hamas militants invaded Israel, murdering numerous Israelis and capturing hostages.

Meanwhile, Bagchi went on to say that the government has not yet been informed of any Indian casualties resulting from the fighting.

He also urged 18,000 of his compatriots currently living in Israel to follow advisories issued by the Indian embassy, which functions out of Tel Aviv.
