After Kiran Rao, Now Deepika Padukone Will Be The Chairperson Of MAMI Film Festival
Pune: Deepika Padukone is one of the most trusted stars of Bollywood at this time. Her last film Padmavat was a blockbuster at the box office. Apart from this, after her marriage with Ranveer Singh, the brand value of this power couple has increased tremendously. Deepika has added another achievement in the list of her success. She has been appointed the Chairperson of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI). This public trust organizes the prestigious Mumbai Film Festival every year in the country.
Kiran Rao was the chairperson for four years before Deepika. Deepika said in the interaction with the Mumbai Mirror, “It is a matter of pride for me and it is also a huge responsibility. I believe in the vision of Mami and in cinema like India, we will try to create a community which is completely dedicated to cinema.”
Kiran also wished luck to Deepika for her journey and she will fully support her if needed. She said, “It is a good luck for me that I have worked as a part of Mami’s core team. After being a chairperson for four years, I welcome Deepika Padukone as India’s most famous star, as a chairperson.”
Jio MAMI Festival Director Anupama Chopra shared this news on his Twitter account. Apart from this, Creative Director of the Geo Mami Mumbai Film Festival Smriti Kiran thanked Kiran Rao for his role and said that he is very excited about working with Deepika. In addition to Deepika Padukone, Mammi Board of Trustees includes filmmakers such as Nita Ambani and her daughter Isha Ambani, filmmaker Karan Johar, Rohan Sippy, Vikramaditya Motwani and Zoya Akhtar.

It is worth noting that Deepika kept distance from Bollywood for a long time after the film Padmavat. During this time, she had a grand wedding with Ranveer Singh. After Blockbuster Padmavat, Deepika is working with Vikrant Macie in the film Chhapak. Meghna Gulzar is directing this movie. Meghna has previously directed the film Raazi with Alia Bhatt which encashed tremendous business at the box office. Deepika, along with this film, is also going to start her new innings as a producer.
