Kedarnath Reconstruction Projects Being Monitored Through Drones: Amit Shah

Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the Kedarnath reconstruction projects are being monitored through drones including laying all-weather routes leading to the temple, reducing the need for physical inspection.

Emphasizing the need to use technology for good governance, Shah, while addressing the 14th Annual Conference of the Central Information Commission (CIC) here said that the government has taken several initiatives like Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar, mobile and usage of Gem Have used technology in Portal for purchase.

The Home Minister said, “Through geo-tagging, using images of satellites, we get to know whether the dam has been built or not, what is the condition of the water in the dam and monitoring of irrigation using drones.”

“Now, work is going on in Kedarnath … All-weather roads are being constructed, they are being monitored online.

You would be surprised that we do not need to send an inspector to the spot for monitoring work.” Drones are being used online. This is a successful use of online surveillance,” said Shah.

The Kedarnath reconstruction project, which was also laid by Modi, was aimed at increasing facilities for Chardham pilgrims.

The four towns of the hilly state to be connected by all-weather roads are Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
