No Lockdown, Curbs Will Be Increased: UP Govt After HC Orders Lockdown In 5 Cities

Mumbai: After Allahabad High Court ordered lockdown in 5 cities of UP, the state government said that it will not impose a complete lockdown, but will impose strict restrictions.

The Yogi Adityanath administration announced its decision after the Allahabad Hgh Court had asked it to impose strict lockdown in the above-mentioned five cities.

The Uttar Pradesh government will not impose full lockdown in cities but will impose strict restrictions to prevent outbreaks of coronavirus. The UP Government is submitting its reply before the Court on its observations, Additional Chief Secretary of Information and Public Relations department, Navneet Sehgal said.

The UP government’s response comes after, the Allahabad High Court today directed the Yogi Adityanath government to impose a lockdown in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar and Gorakhpur till April 26, 2021.

Asking the UP government to strictly enforce the sanctions, the HC issued guidelines regarding the lockdown.

The highest single-day increase in coronavirus cases was reported after Uttar Pradesh as well as a court order following COVID’s death on 18 April.

While the state’s total tally increased to 8,51,620 with 30,596 fresh infections being reported on Sunday, the fatality count reached 9,830 with 129 more people losing their lives to the deadly contagious virus.
