99% Of Mumbai’s Eligible Population Got One Dose Of COVID Vaccine: BMC

Mumbai: As per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 99% of the eligible population in Mumbai has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

BMC said it had administered 15.067 million vaccine doses (both doses combined) until 6.30 pm on Wednesday, November 10.

This includes the vaccine doses provided at all private, municipal, state and central government-run immunization centres since the nationwide immunization campaign began on January 16 this year. The eligible population of the city is 9,236,500.

A BMC statement said, “So far, a total of 9,204,950 beneficiaries have been given their first dose, of which 5,862,933 beneficiaries have received both their doses.”

According to the BMC’s vaccination dashboard, 99% of the city’s target population has been vaccinated from the first dose and 63% have been fully vaccinated.

The first vaccinations for health workers began on 16 January; February 5 for frontline workers; For citizens over 60 years of age as on March 1st; for citizens aged 45-59 on April 1st; And on May 1 for all adult citizens. Vaccination for lactating mothers started on 26 May and for pregnant women on 14 July.
