Sitharaman Travels In Mumbai Local Train, Takes Selfies With Commuters; Pics Shared Online
Mumbai: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman interacted with commuters while traveling in a Mumbai local train on Saturday. Her train ride lasted from Ghatkopar to Kalyan, her office said.
Photos posted alongside showed her posing for photos and selfies with some of the commuters. PM Narendra Modi too has taken public transport on several instances and interacted with commuters.
According to a statement from her office, Ms. Sitharaman’s train ride took her from Ghatkopar to Kalyan, two suburbs of Mumbai. Pictures that were uploaded next to it showed her posing selfies in the train with kids and business travelers.
Mumbai’s local trains, which transport over 60 lakh people daily, are regarded as the city’s lifeline.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mingled with commuters while using public transportation on a number of occasions.
PM Modi traveled the metro between Gundavali and Mogra stations last year after unveiling a few new services. During his journey, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra accompanied him.
