AAP Will Become A Clone Of The BJP, Says P Chidambaram After Kejriwal Flags Off Ayodhya Pilgrim Train

Mumbai: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram called the Aam Aadmi Party a clone of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Chidambaram made this statement after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday flagged off the first train of the ‘Chief Minister’s pilgrimage programme’ from the national capital to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

“The more the AAP imitates the BJP, the less relevant it will become. Soon, the AAP will become a clone of the BJP,” said Chidambaram.

Launched by Kejriwal in 2019, the ‘Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana’ provides free travel packages to senior citizens for pilgrimage from the national capital.

A total of 1100 Delhiites per assembly constituency can avail of this facility in a year, subject to a total limit of 77,000 pilgrims per year.

Since its launch, a total of 35080 beneficiaries have travelled under the scheme.

Earlier on November 26, the Delhi government had also announced that it would provide free pilgrimage to Sikh and Christian communities at Kartarpur Sahib and Velankanni in January.

The Delhi government facilitates these tours through the IRCTC and offers AC trains and AC hotel rooms to the devotees. The entire expense which includes travelling by air-conditioned trains, AC hotel stays, meals, local travel and more is paid by the Delhi government.
