Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims Advised To Bring Aadhaar Card Or Biometric Verified Govt ID

Mumbai: Pilgrims embarking on the Amarnath Yatra have been advised to bring along their Aadhaar card or any other biometric verified government ID card.

About three lakh pilgrims are expected to attend the pilgrimage to the cave temple located in the upper reaches of south Kashmir. This year pilgrims can also avail of helicopter service directly from Srinagar for the journey.

While the online registration has already started, the pilgrimage is scheduled to last for 43 days between June 30 and August 11.

“DRDO hospital is ready in both the base camps for pilgrims. We have made all arrangements for their stay. The community kitchen, medical, communication and sanitation facilities for the pilgrims have been done,” said Nitishwar Kumar, CEO, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

The langar will serve more than 1.5 lakh meals in a day and 38 langar organizations have been given permission to serve this time.

A 70 bedded fully equipped DRDO hospital was established to provide quality health services to the pilgrims at Baltal base camp.

Funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the hospital will have X-ray and ultrasound facilities, general and oxygenated wards, OPD, ICU, pharmacy and a laboratory.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the security arrangements and preparedness for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and held a review meeting with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa, ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, and other officials.

Detailed plans for telecom connectivity, health care, fire safety, electricity and water supply, weather forecasting, langar management, sanitation, lodging, and disaster management were reviewed by the Lt Governor.
