Assaduddin Owaisi Slams ‘Halwa Ceremony’, Says Name Of Dish Is Arabic Word

The Union Budget will be presented on February 1

Mumbai: Taking a dig o Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ahead of Budget 2020, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the customary ‘halwa ceremony’ of the Finance Ministry before printing of Union Budget documents, citing the Arabic origin of the sweet delicacy’s name.

“BJP says they will change the name. Prior to the budget, officials of the Finance Ministry were asked to stay inside the building until the budget is prepared. During the process, they prepare halwa. I ask the BJP, where did the word halwa come from? ” ANI quoted him saying.

“Halwa is an Arabic word and not a Hindi or Urdu word. Now you have become an Arab. They should drop the word Halwa because it is an Arabic word. You have seen the Finance Minister speaking Halwa. There is nothing wrong with this. But they say they will change the name, “he said.
