Bhiwandi: Stranded Workers Sent Back Home By Private Bus

Mumbai: Around 35 migrant workers have been sent to their home city Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh by a private bus from Bhiwandi.

Speaking to The Prevalent India leader of Opposition in BNCMC Mr Yashwant Taware of BJP said, ” 35 workers including Pregnant women and senior citizens are sent by a private bus to Jaunpur. As the lockdown extended, these workers were in distress, so we arranged to send them back home.”

“Similarly, more than 2 to 3 buses will be sent to different cities carrying these workers. The first bus carrying the workers will reach Jaunpur by Monday evening,” added Taware.

Keeping the preventative measures in mind, the bus was fully sanitised, thermal checking of the migrants was done before boarding the bus and will be done in every four hours, said Taware.

Workers weren’t charged any ticket fare and also the food was provided free of cost to them.

Bhiwandi is known as a Powerloom city, where thousands of workers are from UP and Bihar.

Amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, Powerlooms were shut and workers were forced to walk back to their native states.
