BJP ‘Hero’ In Publicity, Cong Failed To Publicise Its Work: Ghulam Nabi

Mumbai: Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the BJP government is a “hero” in publicity and called Congress “zero”. Azaz made the remarks while speaking at the Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards 2021 here.

“His government is a hero in campaigning, but we were zero in campaigning…absolutely zero…that’s good, I appreciate him and I blame myself, my government and my party that we failed miserably whatever we did we could not publicise,” said Azad taking the name of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, who was also present on the dais.

He further said that his 42 years as an elected representative, his tenure as Chief Minister of the then Jammu and Kashmir state and as Union Health Minister gave him the “greatest job satisfaction” in which he made many innovations and new implemented ideas for the welfare of the people.

Recalling his days when the UPA was in power, the senior Congress leader said that he had asked the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to allow the health department if he was made a Union minister, to which Singh said that ministry was too small for an experienced leader like him.

“But I was lucky enough as I was made a health minister. I told the PM that I want to do something for the country, want to work in the health sector and bring my ideas into execution,” PTI quoted Azad as saying.

Stating that he has brought a fundamental change in the health care sector of the country, the former Union Minister said that he has made major changes in land use for building medical colleges to increase the age of medical teaching faculty.

Azad is a prominent face of the Group of 23 Leaders (G-23) who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi demanding visible and active leadership as well as comprehensive reforms in Congress.
