BJP Leader Ashish Shelar Questions Maha Govt For Its Inactiveness On Hindu Festival

BJP will participate in Gudi Padwa and Ram Navami processions

Mumbai: During the Assembly session BJP leader MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar asked the government to allow the procession to be carried out on both the auspicious occasions of Gudi Padwa, which marks the beginning of the New Year as per the Hindu calendar and Ram Navami. Since then, there has been no notice issued from the government.

Hence, while talking to the electronic media on Tuesday, MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar criticized the government for its inactive approach.

He said that the Thackeray government has to date not taken a clear stand to allow Gudi Padwa and Ram Navmi processions. Hence there is confusion in the minds of the people. “Why does the government refrain from making any decisions, when it comes to Hindu festivals,” he questioned.

The leader said that the government has imposed a curfew from March 10 to April 8 citing reasons that the police has received information that terrorists and anti-national elements have planned attacks using drones and remote controls during this period. If such information is received, the security agencies must be careful. And for this reason, a curfew has been imposed.

But Gudi Padwa and Ram Navami fall during this period only. And hence he questioned the government as to why it gets inactive during Hindu festivals. Also when it comes to Rambhaktas, why does the Shiv Sena behave like this, he questioned.

MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar demanded that while the government must adhere to all the necessary legal processes, it must also grant permission to celebrate both these Hindu festivals. We are in talks with the various mandals and committees undertaking these processions and the BJP will participate in both these festivals, he added.
