BJP Made People Burst Firecrackers In Delhi: AAP Minister Gopal Rai

Rai highlighted that the pollution level this year was low as compared to the past 5 years

Mumbai: Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Friday said that the air quality in the national capital has deteriorated due to a surge in farm fires and some people bursting firecrackers on purpose on Diwali despite a ban on it.

Aiming at the opposition, Rai pointed, “Some people had intentionally asked people to burst firecrackers during Diwali festival. Opposition was underestimating the point that pollution increases due to the bursting of firecrackers.” Also Read: ‘Air Quality In Delhi Worsens; ‘Very Poor’ With AQI 386 After Diwali Celebration

However, he also highlighted that the pollution level this year was low as compared to the past 5 years.

“Delhi recorded lowest pollution levels in Oct this year in comparison to last 5 years. But pollution level been increasing for the last 3 days due to firecrackers bursting & an increase in stubble burning. However, it is lesser than previous years,” Rai added.

A day after the Diwali celebrations, the air quality in Delhi-NCR worsened and plunged into the ‘very poor’ category with the air quality index (AQI) touching 386. Meanwhile, in the Janpath area, the air quality deteriorated to the ‘hazardous’ category.

Experts said that the poisonous cocktail of emissions from firecrackers, stubble burning, and local sources have all resulted in turning the air quality severe.
