CM Ashok Gehlot Orders Audit Of COVID-19 Deaths In Rajasthan

Mumbai: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, claims that his administration is not fudging the data or hiding the fatality figure in the state, has ordered his officials to conduct an audit into coronavirus-related deaths so that the real picture come to light.

On Tuesday, in a review meeting, Gehlot said that Rajasthan does not have a tradition of hiding deaths and that the state dispensation is concerned more about the lives of people than the figures.

However, CM has asked the officials to conduct an audit of Covid19 deaths in Rajasthan so that the true data of Covid and non-covid deaths is known to all, and going ahead the social security of families of coronavirus victims can be looked into.

“Medical experts are expressing apprehension that children will be more affected in the third wave. In such a situation, the government should prepare for it by studying the measures taken by other countries and states,” Gehlot said.

The state government has also made arrangements for free of cost transportation of bodies of Covid related deaths and their last rites and CM has also
ordered strict action against private hospitals and laboratories if they overcharge for the treatment and testing of Covid-19 cases.

BJP national spokesperson and Jaipur Rural MP Colonel (retd) Rajyavardhan Rathore had earlier alleged that the state government was fudging the Covid death toll.

As per the official data showed 3,900 Covid19 deaths in Rajasthan between April 1 and May 20, several media reports have shown that more than 14,400 people died in the same period, claimed Rathore.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s caseload mounted to 9,27,746 on Wednesday with 3,886 new infections, while 107 more deaths pushed the fatality figure to 8,018.
