CWC Meeting: We Requested Rahul Gandhi To Be President Of AICC In The Says, Mallikarjun Kharge

The Congress leader also said that the party has also discussed and passed resolutions on various current affairs

Mumbai: The Congress leader & Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said that in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which was chaired by interim president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday, the party has requested Rahul Gandhi to be the president of All India Congress Committee.

“In the CWC meeting, all people agreed and requested Rahul Gandhi Ji to immediately become president of the Congress party and to which he replied that he will think about it and said he will continue working for the party,” Kharge said.

At present, Sonia Gandhi is the interim president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). During the CWC meeting, she assured that full-fledged organisational elections would be held soon to elect a full-time Congress president.

The Congress leader also said that the party has also discussed and passed resolutions on various current affairs.

“During the CWC meeting, we have discussed and passed resolutions on various issues like petrol-diesel price hike, farm laws, Lakhimpur Kheri incident, J&K situation, economy, and many more,” Rajya Sabha LoP, Mallikarjun Kharge.

One of the resolutions concerned the political situation in the country, the other highlighted rising inflation and the third referred to the “acute agrarian crisis”.
