Free Bus Rides Will Be Offered To Women On Raksha Bandhan: UP CM

Uttar Pradesh: As a special gift to women in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will provide free services to women in all categories of buses on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’.

The facility of free bus travel will be available 24 hours a day from midnight of 21st August to midnight of 22nd August.

The Chief Minister has also ordered intensive patrolling by the police to ensure the safety of women.

The government has asked the police to ensure that people follow the norms of social distancing and strictly follow the guidelines issued in the wake of the corona pandemic.

The guidelines state that there should be no public events on Raksha Bandhan and people should celebrate the festival in their homes.

Meanwhile, a number of women’s organisations have urged the Chief Minister to allow sweet shops and rakhi vendors to remain open on Sunday, which is otherwise a weekly curfew, in view of Raksha Bandhan.
