General Rawat’s Mortal Remains Brought To Madras Regimental Centre, TN CM Pays Tribute

Mumbai: The mortal remains of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others, who died in the IAF helicopter crash, were on Thursday brought to Madras Regimental Centre from Military Hospital, Wellington in Nilgiris district.

The mortal remains of those killed in the military chopper crash on Wednesday were brought to the Madras Regimental Center today from the Military Hospital, Wellington in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. In this accident, 13 people including Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat died. Also Read: CDS Chopper Crash: Lone Survivor IAF Group Captain On Life Support, Says Rajnath Singh

General Rawat was on his way from Sulur to Wellington when his helicopter crashed near Coonoor.

India’s first CDS General Rawat was on a visit to the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington to address faculty and student officers of the Staff Course when his helicopter crashed.

The Indian Air Force has ordered an inquiry into the accident. General Rawat was appointed as India’s first Chief of Defense Staff on December 31, 2019.

He previously served as Chief of the Army Staff from January 2017 to December 2019. He was commissioned into the Indian Army in December 1978.
