Goa Govt To Conduct Door To Door Survey To Identify Possible COVID-19 Patients

Mumbai: Following the outbreak of the coronovirus pandemic, the Goa government has decided to conduct a door-to-door survey across the state to identify COVID-19 patients, an official release said.

A four-member team will collect data from each household about symptoms of influenza-like illness from April 13 to April 15.

Teams are made up of BLOs, primary / secondary school teachers, Anganwadi workers and meter readers, village servants, excise guards etc. for the work. Data collection and mapping will be a mobile app though.

The questions asked during the survey included whether anyone in the family reached Goa after February 15, or came in contact with any other person who had reached Goa after February 15.

Health-related questions such as whether someone in the family is seeing flu-like symptoms including fever, cough and difficulty breathing or anyone in the family has come in contact with another person showing the above symptoms.

The survey will also record whether anyone in the family is suffering from diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease or respiratory disease. The age of the family members including the head of the household can also be recorded in the survey.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Goa is seven. So far, five people have either recovered or have been discharged.

The total number of positive coronavirus cases nationwide on Sunday was 8,447, including 7,409 active cases of viral infection. According to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 764 patients have either been cured or discharged, while 273 deaths have been reported in the country.
