Heavy Rain Causes Havoc In Hyd, Girl Killed In House Collapse

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl lost her life as the roof of her mud house collapsed in Narayanapet district of Telangana due to heavy rains, it has been reported that her mother survived with several injuries.

Currently, the mother is undergoing treatment at a government hospital, reported.

Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad and many other parts of the state since late Thursday, but there was a recession this morning.

According to official figures, Gudimalpur, Red Hills, Srinagar Colony, Sivarampalle, Monda Market, Gananka Bhavan (Khairtabad), Vijay Nagar Colony and other areas of Hyderabad received 10 to 14 cm of rain since Thursday.

IMD’s weather bulletin said that Thimajipet in Rajendranagar and Golconda and Nagerkurnool districts received 8 cm of rain, followed by Hakampet (Hyderabad) and Jadapalle in Peddapalle district (seven cm) each.
PTI quoted official sources saying that around 200 houses in Hyderabad’s M S Maktha area were filled by a protective wall of a canal attached to the Hussain Sagar Lake in the early hours of Friday.

He said that rain caused waterlogging in the low-lying areas of the city.

He said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is conducting operations to remove knee-deep water in some areas.

Sources said that GHMC Commissioner D. s. Lokesh Kumar held a meeting with senior officials of the civic body and directed them to take necessary steps to remove waterlogging and fallen trees.

Mayor B. Rammohan visited several flood-hit areas with officials and made sure to send disaster response teams to the affected areas.

The GHMC said that disaster rescue teams of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation moved the residents of some submerged residential colonies in special boats to safer places.

GHMC teams distributed milk and biscuits to needy residents.

The heavy rains led to massive traffic congestion on the city’s roads, including the IT hub and traffic moved at a snail’s pace.
