IMD Issues Heatwave Alert In Mumbai, Thane, Raigad For Next 2 Days

Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert with a warning of a heatwave in Thane, Mumbai, Raigad and north Konkan for the next two days.

Mumbai recorded a temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday the weather office has sounded a temperature alert in the city for the next few days and has warned that the temperature may rise up to 39 degrees Celsius.

The financial capital witnessed scorching heat for the second consecutive day on Sunday. The automatic weather station in Santa Cruz recorded a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal. Colaba’s temperature was recorded at 37.6 degrees Celsius, 6.1 notches above normal.

IMD officials told the Times of India that similar conditions are likely to continue for the next three to four days and the city’s temperature may remain in the same range.

The minimum or night temperature is also expected to reach 24 degrees for the next two days. The minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 22.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal. The average minimum temperature in March is 21.4 degrees.
