India, Germany Signed Over 20 MoUs In Fields Of Education, Agriculture, Maritime Technology Among Others

Mumbai: German Chancellor Angela Merkel has arrived in India for a two-day state visit from October 31 to November 2, 2019. Merkel will be co-chairing the 5th Biennial Indo-German Integovnmental consultations (IGC) along with PM Narendra Modi in the national capital.

Accompanying the German leader are the officials from 15 ministries and a high-power business delegation.

During the visit, India and Germany are expected to sign 20 agreements on various issues including on agriculture, development and social security, football and museum cooperation.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the JDIs were exchanged to strengthen cooperation in the field of prevention of marine litter, research and development on AI, Indo-German Partnership for Green Urban Mobility, and strategic projects. cooperation in the field of civil aviation; cooperation within the International Smart Cities Network; and cooperation in the Field of Skills Development and Vocational Education and Training this are two JDI’s exchanged between this two countries.

The other MoU’s like in the field of occupational diseases, rehabilitation and vocational training of insured persons and workers with disabilities, to establish and expand scientific and technological research cooperation, the establishment of academic collaboration in Ayurveda, yoga and meditation, cooperation in the field of higher education for extension of the period of Indo-German Partnership in Higher Education, are also the aim among the two nations.

The MoU is also signed for agriculture development with the modern technology of agriculture from German. The agreement was also signed regarding the National Museum, the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Indian Museum Kolkata, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Stiftung Humboldt Forum in Berliner Schloss. Siemens Limited, India and MSDE and German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development on Skills for Sustainable Growth was also exchanged by the joint declaration among them.

Agreements between All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Deutscher Fussball-Bund e.V (DFB), as well as on the Extension of Indo-German Partnership in Higher Education were also signed.

Overall, this would be the fifth meeting of PM Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the year 2019.

“I am delighted to be here in India. Germany-India is linked by very close ties. We have great respect for this vast country and its diversity,” Angela Merkel said.

On November 2, the German Chancellor is scheduled to meet the business community. She will also visit a German- company based in Gurugram, as well as the Dwarka sector 21 metro station. She will be departing for Germany at around 12:15 am.
