Mumbai: During the release of a book by Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodiya on Thursday, the former President Pranab Mukherjee said that the world wants to look beyond GDP. He further added that the world has now become more about GHP than GDP.

“The world today is not merely talking about GDP, industrial and agricultural production and services, the world wants more. A new concept GHP- Gross Happiness Product is important too. Happiness is important too,”

He further said that the book was important as it was based on Sisodiya’s real-life experience and learnings of the remedial route.

Sisodiya said that the book was based on his experience as Delhi’s education minister. He further added that the Delhi government has allocated a larger part of their fund to education, since the day they came in power that is in 2015. The budget was used in the improvement of the infrastructure of schools, baseline learning improvement programs, and teacher training programs.

In his speech, he said that the Introduction of a new school board for the city and halving the existing curriculum are the things that the state government is working towards. The Chief Minister who had also arrived at the released said that when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came into power our main goal was to have a common educational platform for all.

Kejriwal said, “Many suggested that the party to should pass an order that all MLAs and officers in Delhi will send their children in the government school. But we wanted it to be a choice… Today, Delhi has given a message of hope. It can be done.”

Sisodiya said that since AAP came into power there have been several changes in the capital. He said, “The first thing to look into was a clerical correction. This included infrastructure, cleanliness, attendance, etc. The second was using education to build the foundation of the country. The system is stuck at the first even at its best times, but we have to move to the second.”
