Internet Services Will Be Restored In Valley Whenever Local Authorities deem It Fit : Amit Shah

Mumbai: Keeping in view the security of the nation, a decision to snap internet services was necessary and Jammu and Kashmir Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Rajya Sabha today that the restrictions in the Valley will be lifted whenever the local authorities are fit.

“As far as internet services are concerned, the decision can be taken by the Jammu and Kashmir authorities. There are also activities by Pakistan in the Kashmir region, so keeping the security in mind, whenever the local authorities fit it the decision will be taken,” Shah replied to Congress MP Anand Sharma in Rajya Sabha.

“It is a question of the security of the country, the question of the fight against terrorism, the question of the safety of the people. We will revisit it whenever the local administration sees fit,” he said.

He said, “The availability of petrol, diesel, kerosene, LPG and rice is sufficient. 22 lakh metric tonnes of apples are to be produced. All landlines are open.”

He said, “I challenge Ghulam Nabi Azad Saheb to counter these facts, why don’t you object to these figures on record? I am willing to discuss this issue even for an hour.”

Azad had risen to protest Shah’s statements and asked how students in the valley would be able to continue their education without internet services?

The Home Minister replied that he agreed with Azad that Internet services were needed, but when it came to the question of national security, the security of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the fight against terror, “we need to prioritize our needs Is, “said.

“Availability of medicines is sufficient, there is no problem. Mobile medical vans have also started. The administration has taken care of the health services,” the home minister said.
