J’khand Allows Chhath Puja Celebrations At Rivers, Ponds; Lifts Weekend Lockdown

Mumbai: Jharkhand government on Friday allowed Chhath Puja celebrations at rivers and ponds amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekend lockdown has been completely lifted following a meeting of the Disaster Management Authority headed by CM Hemant Soren.

Earlier the shops could operate only till 8 pm. The ban has been completely lifted on Sunday. Markets and other business activities can resume in the same way as they were before the lockdown period.

Jharkhand government has allowed 500 guests in weddings and marriage halls can now open with 50 per cent capacity. The government has given permission to open clubs, cinema halls, while all stadiums can open with 50 per cent capacity.

Sports activities have been allowed in rural areas with a gathering of 500 people. Age restrictions for coaching centres have been relaxed.

Previously, it was allowed for students of 18 years of age. However, schools will remain closed for junior classes (1 to 5 classes) till the situation becomes more favourable.
